Thriving in a New Role:
With the assistance of Swords to Plowshares, Jessie enrolled in a PG&E vocational training program to become a Pipeline Inspector. Her dedication and hard work paid off, and she recently transferred teams to become a Construction Inspector. In her new position, Jessie is spearheading an important project in Mariposa, CA, where PG&E is moving its electric power lines underground to reduce the risk of forest fires. Over the course of 12 months, an incredible 10,000 miles of primary electric lines will be relocated. Although this project represents a shift from gas operations, Jessie’s experience in underground excavation, coupled with on-the-job training and mentorship, has equipped her for success in her new role. Jessie emphasizes that she loves her job and finds it incredibly rewarding to foster relationships between PG&E and community members in Mariposa.
New Home and Exciting Discoveries:
Jessie’s success extends beyond her professional accomplishments. Previously living with family, she and her husband were able to purchase a home in San Pablo, marking a new chapter in their lives. As a first-time homeowner, she acknowledges that homeownership is a “completely new beast” for her. She has been learning about mortgages and permitting along the way, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in the process.
