The East Bay Times and the Bay Area News Group are pleased to bring the Share the Spirit program to Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Share the Spirit Grant Program’s mission is to enhance the winter season for the most needy residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties by helping to fund nonprofit holiday programs and outreach.

Grant Application Portal Access Closes. Please note! The application cap is 100 applicants. While we typically do not exceed this number, there is potential for the portal to close sooner if the cap is reached.

September 23 - 26, 2024 Grant committee meets. Grantees will be notified by September 29th.
September - October 2024Grantees selected for story publication; those selected will be contacted by Bay Area News Group staff – ALL grantees must have an organization contact available throughout the month of October to coordinate with journalists.
November 28, 2024 – December 31, 2024Share the Spirit features published in East Bay Times
March 2025Funds distributed
June 2, 2025 Grant Reports due - Please submit the report online, the link will show here when it is available.
