Yessica Garcia recalls getting toys from Monumental Toy Drive when she was a child and now is only too happy to help brighten Christmas for today’s children who are living in Concord.

“It’s really beneficial,” Garcia said. “When it came to Christmas time, getting more than one gift really wasn’t an option. It really helped out that we had something extra to look forward to.”

The Concord Police Department launched the toy drive in 1997 and the city later took over the efforts. Eventually, the city wasn’t able to handle the program and Concord’s Harvest Church took over the effort.
