Las Trampas, Inc. lends a big hand to the developmentally disabled

At Las Trampas, Angie is known as a fiercely independent go-getter — a woman who refuses to let her developmental disability keep her down.

Angie, 58, enjoys dancing, bowling, swimming and getting her hair done. She works at a hospice and thrift stores. Her cozy apartment is adorned with brightly colored arts-and-craft projects of her own making.

Still, Angie knows that independence isn’t achieved without some heartfelt guidance. That’s where members of the Las Trampas Supported Living Services (SLS) staff come in. They assist her with life skills such as cooking, grocery shopping, personal hygiene and transportation.

“Everybody helps out around here,” Angie said.
