Grant eligibility is contingent on cooperating with Bay Area News Group staff. Your organization agrees to collaborate with Bay Area News Group personnel to develop story ideas and provide access to people and activities served by your organization. The story will be published at Bay Area News Group web sites and print publications from November through December 2026.

Any media acknowledgment of the funds must identify them as a grant from "Share the Spirit, a program of the East Bay Times." Tax acknowledgment letters may be sent to: Bay Area News Group – Share the Spirit, P.O. Box 2127, Dublin, CA 94568.

Share the Spirit may include grant award information, including the grantee’s name, in periodic reports and may share it on its website, in press releases, public reports, speeches, newsletters, tax returns, and other public disclosures.

The grant funds must be used only for the project or purpose described in the grantee’s grant application that was submitted between July through August 2026. Funds up to the requested grant amount will be designated and restricted for that purpose.

After the conclusion of the 2026 campaign, distribution of the grant will occur in March 2027. Any portion of the grant funds not used for agreed use presented in the application is subject to return, unless a written request for change of use is received and approved by Share the Spirit. Funding from this grant is restricted to use within Alameda and/or Contra Costa County.

Anti-discrimination and/or inclusion policies were agreed upon in the 2026 grant application submitted during July and August. Checking here means your organization can still meet those policies.

If your program distributes gift cards, you must keep a detailed internal log of the clients who receive them and retain these records with your agency’s financial documents for at least three years. You do not need to send us the list — only when we request it in the event of an audit on our end.

You must submit a final grant report by June 1, 2027. This report covers how the grant was used and if it matches the specified use written in your grant application.

I, the authorized representative of the grantee, consent to, and authorize, the use of electronic means for conducting transactions between Share the Spirit and the grantee, including the use of electronic signatures.

By typing in the Name and Title of the authorized representative of the grantee and the date, the grantee is accepting the terms and conditions of this agreement.
